The World Travel Awards (WTA) , often called the "Oscars of Tourism," have been considered one of the most prestigious awards in global tourism since their founding in 1993. The 2025 awards ceremony took place on September 27 at the AVA Resort Cancún, Mexico.
Rio de Janeiro was able to prevail in several categories, thus confirming its status as a top destination:
Best beach destination in South America
Best city break destination in South America
Best destination for events & festivals
In addition, the Copacabana Palace penthouse received the award for the best hotel room in the region.
This international recognition not only strengthens the city's image but also sends a clear signal to the global travel market: Charming Glória, Copacabana, samba and culture make Rio de Janeiro an unforgettable experience.
For visitors who want to explore Rio beyond the well-known sights, even more options are now opening up.
